The Radiology Department of Limassol General Hospital is a modern and fully equipped diagnostic centre that provides high-quality healthcare to patients.

It is staffed with radiologists, including the Department’s Head, Deputy Director of Radiology, and Scientific Director of SHSO in the Limassol-Paphos districts, Dr. Christos Th. Nikolaou.

Additionally, the department employs 28 radiology technologists as well as nursing, administrative, and auxiliary staff. It operates daily from 7:30 to 15:00 and serves on an outpatient basis, both GHS beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries. It also provides a 24-hour service on weekdays and public holidays for patients admitted to the A&E department.

The radiology department of Limassol G.H. offers numerous imaging examinations across the entire spectrum of radiology.

In particular, the department operates the following sections:

Conventional Radiology:

All types of X-rays, mammograms, panoramic radiographs, and bone density measurements are offered.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound scans of the upper and lower abdomen, urinary system, thyroid gland, soft tissues, breast and vascular triplex are performed using the three ultrasound scanners of the department. The department also conducts paediatric radiology examinations including ultrasound scans for brain, hips and upper and lower abdomen.

Computed Tomography – CT:

All types of CT scans including angiography as well as CT-guided biopsies are offered.

Additional information

Ongoing efforts aim to establish a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Tomography and Interventional Radiology facilities. Simultaneously, procedures are underway to install an Integrated Radiology Information System (RIS) All the imaging examinations are stored in an electronic health record which is connected and in sync with all the SHSO healthcare centres for future retrieval and access by physicians and patients themselves.
