The activities of the Anaesthesiology Department include the perioperative management of patients undergoing surgery, the treatment of the critically ill and the treatment of acute and chronic pain.

Communication and smooth coordination between anaesthesiologists in preparing patients for surgery.
Continuous quality control and improvement.
Systematic training of all anaesthesiologists for treating cases regardless of specialty, severity and age.
Operational Areas – Services
A. The department’s main activity area is the 1st floor of the Limassol General Hospital, where 5 operating rooms and a septic cases room are located. It covers the following Clinics: Surgery / Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Orthopaedic, Gynaecological and Obstetric, Urology, Ophthalmology and ENT Departments
B. It is responsible for administration of anaesthesia for intraoperative and outpatient procedures, such as diagnostic imaging examinations, endoscopic diagnostic interventions.
C. Another important area is non-surgical activities, such as the placement of venous lines, intubations, etc.
D. It also covers emergency Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) cases in the Hospital’s Clinics, in the A&E Department, and participates in the transfer of critically ill intubated patients within and outside the Hospital.
E. As part of patient preparation, an outpatient Preoperative Anaesthesia Clinic operates daily.
F. The Anaesthesiology Department is also involved in the management of acute postoperative pain.
G. The Anaesthesiology Department operates an exceptional Chronic Pain Clinic serving both hospitalised patients and outpatients.
H. Training of specialised anaesthesiologists, providing a one-year specialisation program.
I. Departmental lectures or case studies – discussions on a weekly or fortnightly basis. J. Consultation on specialised topics of anaesthesiology with all the Hospital’s departments for high-risk patients or patients with rare diseases.
