Profile

The Anaesthesiology Department has been functioning since the establishment of Paphos General Hospital, and its five physicians provide their services to all departments of the hospital.

Specifically, they are involved in:

Providing general or regional anaesthesia, as well as peripheral nerve blocks, for all types of surgical interventions, both elective and emergency, in all surgical specialties.

Assisting with immediate postoperative care in the recovery room.

Managing mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive) for intubated patients or using masks for patients with various conditions, such as trauma, cerebral events, asthma or epileptic seizures, respiratory failure, and shock.

Providing primary care to patients in the Emergency Department.

Transporting patients to central hospitals or specialised centres.

Overseeing the Imaging and Endoscopy Department.

Providing anaesthesia services in all hospital departments, including preoperative assessment, postoperative analgesia, and cardiorespiratory resuscitation.

Conducting regular outpatient preoperative clinics once a week to ensure the best possible preparation of patients for surgery.

The Anaesthesiology Department covers patients of all age groups, from preterm infants to elderly individuals, considering the unique requirements of each group.

As evident from the above, the physicians of the department work around the clock, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring continuous coverage and care.
