The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology has been operating since 2007, with a significant contribution to the female population of the district of Famagusta. Our medical and obstetric staff aim to deliver high-quality care and support to pregnant women and patients with gynaecological conditions. Housed on the ground floor of our hospital, the clinic comprises outpatient clinics, two delivery rooms for normal deliveries, a colposcopy and cervical pathology unit, and a treatment ward. The clinic features modern facilities and a unique layout, configured as a separate wing which is dedicated to obstetric and gynaecological cases, ensuring safety and comfort for both patients and visitors.

Our Obstetrics services include:

• Low and High-Risk Pregnancy Monitoring

• Specialised clinic of Embryonic Medicine for first trimester ultrasounds (screening for Down syndrome) and second trimester scans (anomaly scan), conducted by a physician certified by Dr. Kypros Nicolaides (King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust).

Our Gynaecological clinics provide medical services such as:

• General gynaecology

• Colposcopy and cervical pathology

• Non-surgical and Surgical Treatment of pelvic prolapse and urinary incontinence

• Infertility investigation

• Miscarriage management

• Family planning

• Obstetric Psychoprophylaxis (commencing soon)

Our outpatient clinics operate daily from 08:30, Tuesday to Friday.

Scheduled surgeries are performed every Monday and Thursday and cover the entire range of gynaecologic surgery with endoscopic (laparoscopy, hysteroscopy), transvaginal and intra-abdominal access.

Deliveries are covered daily by a physician and obstetric staff in the fully-equipped delivery room, while a 24-hour coverage for emergencies is in place.

Gynaecology surgeries performed in our department:

• Laparoscopic hysterectomy

• Laparoscopic removal of ovarian cysts +/- fallopian tubes

• Laparoscopically Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH)

• Laparoscopic Bilateral Tubal Ligation (surgical sterilisation)

• Diagnostic laparoscopy (investigation of infertility or other pathology e.g. endometriosis)

• Vaginal hysterectomy with uterosacral ligament suspension (for pelvic organ prolapse)

• Placement of tension-free vaginal tape (for urinary incontinence)

• Anterior and posterior colporrhaphy (for pelvic organ prolapse)

• Colpocleisis

• Total abdominal hysterectomy (open surgery)

• Fibromyectomy (open surgery)

• Hysteroscopy (diagnostic and surgical)

• Conization (cone biopsy for cervical pathology)

• Vaginoplasty and frenuloplasty (cosmetic surgery)
