The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Larnaca General Hospital has been operating since 1995 and is staffed by a clinical dietician.
To provide services to Inpatients and Outpatients, upon referral from an attending physician.
Hospitalized patients are given an individualized feeding program according to the instructions of the attending physician and the course of the disease.
The feeding of hospitalized patients is arranged in collaboration with the food services of the Hospital, where the correct quantity and quality of food is ensured.
The medical specialties covered are: Pediatrics, Gynecology-Obstetrics, Cardiology, General Surgery, Orthopedics-Traumatology, Pulmonology – Infectious Diseases, Internal Pathology, Nephrology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Hematology and all higher specialties covered by the Intensive Care Unit.

With the issuance of a discharge, the follow-up of the inpatients continues in the outpatient clinics of the hospital.
In the outpatient clinics, patients who are referred to the Dietician for Special Diet by Hospital Doctors, by Personal Doctors and by Specialist Doctors in the private sector (Gesy and not) are monitored.

Diseases monitored in the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition are included in the list of Gesy diagnoses and may be referred to the services of Clinical Dietitians. In addition, patients are monitored for conditions that do not fall under Gesy’s diagnoses, eg obesity with a separate financial burden.
The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition has a Special Scale – Digital Body Analyzer for specialized diseases, e.g. liver cirrhosis, kidney disease, malnutrition, obesity, etc. and sports.
