Profile

The Department of Orthopaedics provides services for the effective treatment of hundreds of patients every year.

The clinic mainly deals with Trauma. Each year hundreds of injuries due to work-related, car or other accidents, such as osteoporotic accidents of elderly people that occur at home, are addressed with first-aid treatment techniques.

At the same time, our experienced and well-trained staff deals with a wide range of planned reconstructive surgeries such as:

• Knee and hip arthroplasty, due to arthritis, and follow-up arthroplasty

• Surgical wound cleansing

• Arthrodesis in joints with capsule alterations

• Knee arthroscopy

• Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction

• Minor surgeries for conditions that do not require hospitalisation, such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, De Quervain syndrome, Trigger Finger.

The Orthopaedics Clinic is located on the 5th floor of Larnaca General Hospital. Paediatric orthopaedic cases are treated at the Paediatric Clinic on the 4th floor and serious cases at the Intensive Care Unit located on the 7th floor. The experienced nursing staff of the hospital provides the appropriate nursing care, both before and after surgical rehabilitation. The Outpatient clinic is located on the ground floor of the new building. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, days during which the Outpatient clinic operates, hundreds of people of all ages visit the physicians of the clinic to receive treatment for their conditions or injuries related to the musculoskeletal system. While the GHS has offered to the patient the choice to visit any orthopaedic doctor of his/hers preference, the community of Larnaca, as well as other districts, continues to trust the physicians at the Orthopaedic Clinic of Larnaca General Hospital for the management of their orthopaedic conditions.
