The Paediatric Clinic of Arch. Makarios III is the only tertiary paediatric clinic in Cyprus. It accepts patients for investigation and treatment from 15 days old to 16 years old, either through referrals from other public hospitals or from private physicians.
The clinic operates with two wards, Paediatric Ward I and Paediatric Ward II, each with a capacity of 18 beds, but with expansion capabilities when necessary.
The clinic admits both routine and complex cases that require hospitalisation, as the specialised knowledge of the medical staff makes the clinic a reference centre for paediatric patients in Cyprus. Additionally, the clinic admits chronic patients for scheduled treatment and imaging examinations.
The clinic runs a comprehensive residency programme in Paediatrics, educating 16 residents who gain high-level knowledge and experience. Thus, the clinic serves as a ‘nursery’ for young paediatricians in Cyprus. Moreover, both students from the Medical School of the University of Cyprus and those from private medical schools are trained in Paediatrics at the clinic, making it the primary Academic Training Centre in Paediatrics in our country.
