Dr. Andreas Ioannou is a graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (with grade Excellent). Upon successfully completing the specialty entry examinations, he was trained in the specialty of Internal Medicine at the Pathology Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital of and received the title of Pathology Specialist after his success in the specialty examinations at the University of Athens. During the specialty he attended a 4-month postgraduate training in the treatment of strokes at the Integrated Stroke Unit (Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, United Kingdom). He holds a Master’s Degree in Infectious Diseases (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, UK) and a Diploma in Abdominal Ultrasound (Medical University of Vienna). He is a certified instructor for Advanced Life Support Seminar (ALS) by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and is a ATLS – Advanced Trauma Life Support provider, certified by the American College of Surgeons. He has attended Pan-Hellenic and Pan-European educational programmes related to hypertension (European School of Hypertension, 2019), diabetes mellitus (38th Annual Vassos Karamanos Seminar on Diabetes, 2017), vascular strokes (European School 2017), internal medicine (27th European School of Pathology, 2017) and hepatology (9th Clinical School of Hepatology, 2015). Dr. Ioannou is an honorary assistant lecturer at the Medical School of the University of Nicosia, Clinical Instructor at the Medical School of the European University of Cyprus and a member of many Cypriot and European Medical Societies. He participates in the research team ENLITES (Edinburgh Life After Stroke), as well as in the research project CREACTIVE (Collaborative Research on Acute Traumatic brain Injury in IntensiVe care medicine in Europe). He has more than 10 publications in international scientific medical journals and has participated as a lecturer or speaker in many domestic and international conferences related to his specialty.
