Dr. Eftychiou is the assistant director of the Cardiology Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital. His duties include percutaneous coronary artery bypass grafting (PCI), including primary angioplasty and complex angioplasty using rotary atherectomy, LASER thrombectomy, Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) and iFR / FFR. He is in charge of transdermal aortic valve (TAVI) implants and ASD / PFO transdermal convergences. He studied medicine at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and completed his training in Cardiology in hospitals in Greece and Cyprus. His PhD was on the subject of the “Relationship between methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase and homocysteine mutations in Cypriot men under the age of 50 with acute myocardial infarction”. He trained in Interventional Cardiology at Leeds General Infirmary in the United Kingdom in 2010-2011, after being awarded a scholarship from the EAPCI of the European Society of Cardiology. He is a research associate and scientific specialist at the Medical School of the University of Cyprus, the Medical School of the European University of Cyprus and the Medical School of the University of Nicosia. He is an instructor and programme director of the European Resuscitation Council for Advance Life Support (ALS) courses and vice-president of Cyprus Resuscitation Council. His research interests include a wide range of cardiology with more than 20 pubmed publications, with 10389 citations, h-index: 18 and i10-index: 21.
