Dr Dimitrios Patestos graduated from the Medical School of the University of Palermo in 2002 and specialized in cardiology in the General Hospital Asclepion Voula in Athens. He is a licensed specialist in executing ultrasound Cardiology and he has been trained in New Ultrasound Techniques (stress echocardiography, transesophageal echo, Contrast Echo, Tissue Doppler, strain rate echocardiography) and from 11/2013 until 8/2020 he has been working a Cardiologist in private practice. He has been working on health issues for displaced people since 2006 and he has worked as a Medical Coordinator for MDM in Lesvos in 2015-2017 and then as a Medical Coordinator of KEELPNO (now EODY) of Eastern Aegean Islands until 11/2018.From 2/2019-8/2020 he was a Medical Coordinator of MDM- greek delegation and from 7/2019 until today a Research Associate and member of the scientific Committee in the Postgraduate Program in International Medicine – Health Crisis Management at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, responsible for migration issues.he has participated in numerous pan-Hellenic and international conferences and working groups on both cardiology and health issues for displaced people, having participated in many of them as a speaker or member of a round table.
