Nuclear Medicine
Dr. Ioannis Petrou is of Cypriot origin, was born and raised in Greece. He studied at the Medical School of the University of Catania, in Sicily, Italy, from where he received a degree in Medicine in 2007 with honors. After completing his military service in the National Guard of Cyprus, as a hoplite doctor, offering health services, he first worked as a trainee doctor (preregistration doctor) at the G.H. of Nicosia and then, as a non-specialist doctor (junior doctor), at the Oncology Center of the Bank Of Cyprus (BOCOC). He continued his studies in Thessaloniki, Greece, where he obtained the title of specialty in Nuclear Medicine, in May 2018, after training at the Department of Nuclear Medicine of the G.H. of Thessaloniki “Hippokration”. Immediately after, he worked as a locum physician in nuclear medicine at the 3rd Nuclear Medicine Laboratory of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at the G.H. of Thessaloniki “Papageorgiou”, until May 2019. From June 2019 until today he works as a nuclear medicine physician at G.H. of Nicosia.
During his specialty, he trained for 6 months at the PET/CT department of the 3rd Nuclear Medicine Laboratory of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at the G.H. of Thessaloniki “Papageorgiou”, while as a trainee but also as a locum physician he participated fruitfully in a number of research papers of his departments, which were presented at national and international conferences while he contributed significantly to the elaboration of research papers in various scientific and research fields, whose results were published in prestigious international and greek journals.
