pediatrician with special interest in Pediatric Gastroenterology
Dr Panagiota Protopapa graduated with honors from the Medical School of the University of Athens and is a graduate of the American Board of Paediatrics since 1993. She served as a Fellow-Paediatric in Infectious Diseases at the Children’s Hospital of Cincinnati Ohio in 1994.
She works at the Children’s Hospital Archbishop Makarios III Nicosia since 1996 and in 2020 she started to collaborate with King’s College Hospital for the care of children with rare chronic liver disease and gastroenterology. The result of this close cooperation was the creation, on her own initiative and actions of the National Pediatric Liver, Gastroenterology and Nutrition Centre in March 2014 as part of the Technical Agreement between the Ministry of Health and King’s College Hospital. She is the national representative in ESPGHAN (European Society of Paediatric, Gastroenterology and Nutrition) and also participates as external medical adviser to the European Reference Network RARE LIVER.
