Archbishop Makarios III Hospital has been the only specialised hospital for Mother and Child in Cyprus since 1984. Arch. Makarios III belongs to the network of Hospitals of the State Health Services Organisation, along with 7 other hospitals providing primary, secondary and tertiary care for the population across the island.

The primary purpose of Arch. Makarios III is to provide high quality medical and nursing care services to children and adolescents. To this effect, the hospital’s infrastructure comprises modern equipment and facilities which include delivery rooms, Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Units, a specialised prenatal testing centre, a clinical genetics and metabolic disorders clinic, paediatric pneumology, nephrology, rheumatology, oncology, endocrinology, haematology, etc. The scientific and medical staff is readily available on a 24-hour basis with on duty physicians, midwives, qualified nurses and a host of support staff.

The Hospital operates with a capacity of 182 inpatient beds in various wards, 59 day care beds and 5 operating rooms while its highly experienced and specialised staff comprise 75 medical officers, 344 nursing officers and 50 health professionals.
