Profile

The Surgery Clinic of Famagusta G.H. has been operating since 2007 shortly after the establishment of the Hospital. The four General Surgeons of the clinic perform operations across the full spectrum of the General Surgery specialty.

The hospital houses fully equipped and state-of-the art operating theatres where open or laparoscopic surgical procedures are performed. The Surgery Clinic has a capacity of 20 beds and is collocated with the Orthopaedics Clinic of our Hospital. In addition, where necessary for severe cases, the patients are admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) which has 6 beds. The Surgery Clinic covers our Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) with an on-call surgeon available on a 24/7 basis for urgent operations when required.

For cases that require assessment, treatment or therapy from medical specialties not offered by the Famagusta G.H. the Clinic-Hospital collaborates with other hospitals (especially with the Nicosia G.H.). Apart from major surgeries conducted under general anaesthesia, there are also surgeries performed under spinal/epidural anaesthesia, allowing for cases to be treated as “day care surgery.” Furthermore, surgeries are carried out in collaboration with other surgical specialties (Plastic Surgery, Urology, ENT) for cases falling within their respective fields. Once a week, minor surgical interventions under local anaesthesia (mole removals, nail surgeries, etc.) are performed. The Clinic’s surgeons attend cases of their respective specialties every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the outpatient clinics. The breast/thyroid clinic operates every Wednesday and Friday.
