Profile

The Otolaryngology Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital is the largest ENT Clinic in Cyprus and the only fully organised one.

The facilities of the clinic include ​​the outpatient clinics, the audiology centre, the hospital ward and the operating room. The four examination rooms along with the well-equipped audiology centre and the speech therapy unit are all collocated in a functionally unified space. The ward consists of 16 beds, of which 4 are specially configured for paediatric patients.

The clinic is staffed by four specialised otorhinolaryngologists, four resident doctors, two clinical audiologists, and one speech therapist. Additionally, the clinic is supported by specialised and highly experienced nursing staff in the field of otorhinolaryngology.

The expertise and specialisation of our doctors, audiologists, and nurses of the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic, as well as the support from other specialties at Nicosia General Hospital (e.g., Intensive Care Unit) and Makarios Hospital, enable the management of the most complex and demanding cases in the field.

In addition to routine otorhinolaryngological examinations and surgical interventions, the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic treats other challenging cases suffering from conditions such as head and neck cancer (e.g., larynx, pharynx, thyroid gland), complex nasal and sinus disorders (e.g., polyps, nasal tumours) or ear diseases (chronic otitis, cholesteatoma, otosclerosis). Special emphasis is placed on the diagnosis and treatment of paediatric and adult hearing loss. In parallel to the clinical work, the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic, under the direction of its head, coordinates the state-established Multidisciplinary Team for the Management of Children with Hearing Loss.

Finally, the clinic houses the only Cochlear Implant and Other Auditory Implant Centre in Cyprus.
