Profile

The Hematology Clinic was founded in 1995. It provides high quality services in accordance with international guidelines. It is staffed by 7 distinguished Hematologists. It consists of 3 sections and offers the following services.

Α. Outpatient Clinics:
There are 3 outpatient clinics operating daily where patients with benign and malignant hematological diseases are investigated and monitored such as: anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, acute and chronic leukemias, lymphomas, myelodysplastic neoplasms, dysplasia, myeloplasty angioedema etc.
Twice a week there is a specialised clinic which is a reference centre for investigation, monitoring and treatment of hemorrhagic and thrombotic disorders.
Evaluation of voluntary bone marrow donors.

Β. Day Care Unit:
There is a day care unit where treatments are given and diagnostic tests are performed on hematological patients, eg chemotherapy, transfusion of blood and its derivatives, bleeding, administration of intravenous fluids, biologic therapy>.

Γ. Hematology clinic:
It operates with 13 beds and 22 trained, experienced nurses for the treatment and care of various complications of hematological patients, who need long-term hospitalisation. Two of these beds are available for the treatment of patients undergoing autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantat. To date, more than 293 transplants have been performed with excellent results.

Other services:
• Invitation for evaluation of patients with hematological problems hospitalised in other clinics and for blood donation issues.
• Evaluation of peripheral blood and bone marrow preparations sent from other clinics and medical centres.
• Training of specialised Hematologists for 2 years.
• Autologous transplantation and collection of hematopoietic stem cells are specialised procedures which in Cyprus are offered only by Nicosia Hematology Clinic.
