Georgia Chappa is a Clinical and Paediatric Dietitian at Archbishop Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia since 2002. She has trained at King’s College, University of London receiving a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics with State Registration (RD).

She has completed numerous specialized trainings on Insulin Pump therapy both abroad (Warwick University) and in Cyprus on a regular basis and is a member of the team following up children with diabetes on insulin pump.

She has also completed a two-year intensive training programme on the Treatment of Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (Maudsley Method – Family Therapy) at King’s College London (Institute of Psychiatry at the Maudsley). She is a key member of the multidisciplinary teams of the Centre for the Prevention and Treatment of Eating Disorders and the in-patient Children and Adolescent’s Department of Eating Disorders at Archbishop Makarios III Hospital.

She is also a key member of the team of the Paediatric Liver, Gastroenterology and Nutrition Centre NAMIII – King’s College Hospital London and is following up children with gastrointestinal and liver disease.

Since 1995 she is the Consultant Paediatric Dietitian and Collaborator of the Centre for Preventive Paediatrics (previously Centre for Prevention of Mental Retardation), the centre undertaking the national PKU screening. Apart from infants and children with PKU, she follows up children with inherited metabolic disease in collaboration with the Genetics Clinic at NAMIII.

She is a member of the Cyprus Dietetic and Nutrition Association and she has served as Vice-President in the period 1999-2006.

She is co-author in a number of publications in the fields of epidemiology of obesity in Cyprus, bariatrics, oncology, phenylketonuria and glutaric aciduria type 1 and has presented at local and international conferences various topics related to her specializations.
